"My whole life, there has been a presence with me, guiding me down roads I could never have imagined, leading me in directions I would never have travelled on my own, connecting spirals and stories bigger than I am, for this, I am grateful."
THANK YOU.
Experience is the best teacher
I hold an M.A. in Depth Psychology with emphasis on the Creative Life through Pacifica Graduate Institute. I also hold a B.A. in Education from Arizona State University and have 12 years as a professional educator in the public and private sectors. I have non-profit organization experience focused on youth advocacy and the healing of familial wounds.
I have studied healing modalities at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. My studies have included massage, deep body work, Brazilian light body infusion, 5-rhythms dance, and somatics, such as cortical re-education.
My education has been enriched by indigenous traditions, such as Transcendentalism, Shamanism, and yoga. I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years and have integrated my studies of many traditions as a teacher for over 20 years.
Through lineage, I have been born to hold sacred space for elemental ceremonies involving medicines of the heart. I have travelled the world teaching yoga and doing medicine work, relying on prayer and meditation to channel and transmute base energies into higher states of consciousness. I rely on Great Spirit's Universal breath energy in healing sessions that treat the whole person and are combined with knowledge of the body learned from massage trainings, my personal injury recovery, 30 years of yoga experience, Shamanic knowing of varying forms of consciousness, and my time as a cedar woman.
I believe it is primary to connect with Soul Purpose in order to fully authenticate, embody, and experience greater states of happiness, health, and harmony. In contemplating inner and outer unity, the harmonizing of solar linear mind and lunar intuitive spirit brings us into the transcendence of wisdom.
It is my belief union with Father Sky and Mother Earth present in us through the metaphor of family as divine human beings helps us to combine experience and loving perspective to a wise course of action that will heal our patterns and provide us with healthier experiences that ultimately provide salve for our wounds.
By healing past relationships and traumas, we can become fully sexualized, re-wilded, freely sensual beings sublimating energy and impulses in order to maintain right relations through healthy boundaries and communications that nurture and support families and communities, while at the same time elevating the experience of love making with our partners and honoring our True Self.
In essence, making love to our life and each other every day and learning how to differentiate deep love connections through varying principles and levels of interaction.

The Journey to being a healer...
begins with the first steps taken towards self-healing. My 20's were punctuated by many physical healing traumas. In my early 20's I had a brain tumor. In my mid-20's I had a debilitating snowboarding accident wherein I fractured my back, separated and broke ribs, displaced my pelvis, twisted my sacrum and fractured my SI joint. In my late 20's I had a roll over car accident wherein the seat-belt tore both my abdominal and hip-flexor muscles, at the same time reigniting previous injuries. I see these as the beginning of my healing path.
Although I have a profound respect for the medical community and I know that there is a right place and time to seek modern medicine, the medicine I trust the most is my own heart.
Through it, I have allowed myself to be guided and have had experiences such as watching my tumor come out of my nose and feeling my body unravel one little teeny breath at at time.
I have a massage license from Big Sur Esalen Institute and have taken trainings in deepbody work. My medicine trainings have included appreticeships with Apache medicine woman, April White Cloud and trainings with multi-generational healer Maria Lucia Bettoncourt.
Mostly, however, I honor the medicines and ceremonies that have put me in touch with generational and familial guidance, Mexican, Pueblo, and Apache Mescalero. I call myself a TexMex. Born on. Border town between three places my heart holds the medicine of integration, acceptance, and transcendence. I perform energy healings, massage and Mayan healing rituals involving earth elements and herbs.
Native American ceremonies have taught me the power of group healings and I have had the pleasure of sitting with people in healing retreats and ceremonies on sacred lands with other teachers and ceremonialists such as Carlos Sauer.

The Journey to being a Spiritual Advisor...
begins with my own path as a medicine woman.
As a child I was frequently covered in dirt, carrying crystals and comprehending conversations that were directed at people much older than I. I was a free spirit and unafraid of the lonely path, for to me, I was never truly alone.
These wanderings left me open to a neighbor who sexually molested me, leading me to years of nightmares and high fevers up 102. I see now my role in dismantling the arena, for I was the first to tell and I am grateful that I had the strength to heal and flourish as a womb-an within my loving family despite this early circumstance.
However, I did not go unscathed. During puberty I experienced high manic depressive tendencies as I struggled with my light and shadows. I exhibited self-destructive behaviors such as cutting, crying fits, and drug/alcohol abuse. The latter led me to my first awakening and shamanic death. Overdosing on both cocaine and acid, I entered into a highly elevated state of light and became aware for the first time that what I did to myself affected everyone around me, an invisible realm, and a circle of ancestry that I was responsible for maintaining. I knew then that I was a memory keeper and, though I am still understanding what that means, I made an agreement with the spirit world to become whatever it was I was meant to be.
I believe that in a society where vision quests and rights of passage have become sparse, I was leading myself home to a connection with a Higher Source that could never be broken.
My first assignment was as a Christian minister and missionary. I experienced synchronicities that could only have been explained as having been assisted by guides and angels. How many times did I arrive in a place with a person who was contemplating suicide, just had brain surgery and no one to help, or was praying to stop drinking? The Bible would fall open to verses of comfort.
It was soon after that, during the years of my brain tumor and injuries, I met my Apache Hawaiian mentor, April White Cloud. We meditated for hours, did month long fasts and cleanses, traveled, healed and created together. After years of friendship, my medicine training culminated in a year long vision quest in the Hawaiian islands where I put myself through a Shamanic Snake Burial (Guided by unseen forces) and watched my tumor come out of my nose.
This was the beginning of me reclaiming my ancestry for my lineage of Mexican, Apache Mescalero, Puebla, Spanish, English...a rainbow tribe, indeed.
Since then, along my travels and spiritual journeys, I have truly come to appreciate the many ways there are to "kiss the ground" (Rumi). In all the places I have looked, God is there. In that way, I truly have come to understand what it for Divine Presence to be omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.
I am an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church and stand for the tenets of many belief systems including Native American Ceremony, Hawaiian Hunasim, Yogic Philosophy, Mayan celebration and the spirit of life encapsulated in the churches of Nature.
Thank you, Mother Earth, for you inspiration. Thank you, Father Sky for your direction.

The Journey to Being a Yogini...
began with yoga videos at 14 progressed to David Swenson's Ashtanga and hit a crescendo with Bikram's Hot Yoga Series. I have experienced yoga trainings and internships throughout my 20's, however, my ultimate teachers and guides have been the spontaneous shamanic movements that healed me during my physical rehabilitations.
During kundalini awakenings I have experienced shakings deep in the core of my SI joint running all the way down to my foot and teaching me about energy release and the spontaneous healing potential in breath, awareness, and prayer. Rather than taking my attention away from my pain, I have put all of my power and energy into knowing it and making it my friend.
After 28 years of practicing and 20 years of teaching, I am happy to utilize yoga as an extension of my healing work and help people tune into their own healing potentials and subtle body suggestions. Yoga is a moving, breathing consciousness of self-healing methods, laying of hands and ceremonial prayers/intentions.
I am registered with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT 200.

The Journey to Being a Mentor...
is having personal stories to tell. I don't have all the answers but I do have a bag of tricks that has helped me along the way to becoming successful, healthy and, most importantly, happy.
I have earned my happiness after many long years of health and body traumas, depression, homelessness, and failed relationships with people I truly loved and still do.
I am certified as a Traumatic Incident Reduction Coach.
I have my Masters in Depth Paychology and the Creative Life at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. Hired immediately after graduation I have co-taught courses on Applied Mythology, Aesthetics, and Dreams with Active Imagination. The next course is Project course for completion: Creativity and Reflection.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education, which I used for 12 years. My last four years in public education I spent mentoring, guiding, and inspiring at-risk youth. I have extremely fond memories of working with at-risk youth. It, by far, stands out as one of the most fulfilling, fun, and nurturing experiences I have had as an education professional. It taught me the potential that exists within everyone just needs a spark of belief and love to grow and become an outward manifestation of success. Surely, each one of my students was far greater than they, until then, believed themselves to be.
That lead to my experiences as a curriculum developer and teen center manager for a non-profit organization. During that time I created and implemented over 21 programs, including Eat the World culinary program and United as One tribal art program. As such, I have successfully participated and run healing circles for teens utilizing art therapy, indigenous teachings, and intuitive movement.
The path I now walk is a outward manifestation of my choice to be my own hero and rise up in my strength and beauty. Often times the shift in our lives comes from a shift in the stories we tell ourselves and others.
It is our personal responsibility to make sure the story we tell is a good one. Often times my role as a life coach is truly one of genuine friendship and I, too, honor and am grateful for the time I have gotten to spend with people past and present. In this role I have had the privilege of witnessing generational healings, personal breakthroughs and life transformations. Happiness is our birthright, no matter what challenges or life experiences we face.
If I can do it...anyone can.

PRAYER:
May all the sacred elements of the Earth and in our human condition come into balance. May we learn how to honor the gift of life, not only our own but also the lives of all things seen and unseen, plant and animal. I pray we create bond and friendships with powerful allies able to descend from all directions who will help us to be bold in walking our heart's true path and,in times of difficulty, offer comfort.
Sacred circle and meeting together is how we both teach and learn through openness and communication how to resolve conflict, own our feelings and experiences, and end conflict in and around us for the soul purpose of love's victorious moments.
I believe it is the desire of spirit that we reconnect with Source energy, harmonize and allow ourselves to dream a new dream of wholeness for our plant. As the Hope Prophecy reminds us: There is no time to waste, "WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR..."

Teachers and Influences:
Twenty-two years ago I began down my yogic indigenous path to health and healing.
My greatest teachers have been events that could be considered my greatest pain, but have truly been the most formative and strengthening incidents of my life. In addition I would like to recognize the people who have taught and influenced me along the journey: Steve Miller D.C. (acupuncturist, herbalist, chiropractor and basic emotional imprinting), April White Cloud, Hawaiian Kahunas, my grandmother Josepha V. Lucero and Grandma Carmen, my grampies, Thoreau, Emerson, and Whitman, The Bible, Paulo Coehlo, BKS Iyengar, Bikram Chodrey, Yogananda, The Bhagavad Gita, Native American Church elders, cedar, sacred medicines, flowers, animal, plant, Universal spirits, my nephews (greatest reflectors and truth speakers), uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters (too many but Maggie May and Heather Luna...smartest women ever!)and cousins, invisible beings both unborns and ancestors, toltec, Mayan, Aztecan and well everyone who ever lived). My mother and father (Carmen Alicia Lucero and Arturo Lucero), Ruth Evelyn (Energy artist, intuitive, and writer), Donna Arz (Healing, Youth advocate and gifted Healer), Maria Lucia Bittencourt, Perry and Johanna Holloman, Brita Olstrom (The Esalen Faculty), Sacred Medicines and Elements of the Earth, David Swenson, Shiva Rea, Jason Milne, Shaelah Morris, Babaji, Ghandi, Rumi, Kahlil Gibran, W.H. Auden, Redfield, Zero Balancing, Rolfing, Lomi-lomi, children, all my students and friends, and many more every day.
In learning how to sit with my pain, I found the place where yogic breath spontaneously moves and inner knowing holds us at the still center.
There is no substitution for personal experience and the ability to self-heal. I believe energy flows to all areas of our life and when we focus our awareness on the body, giving attention to spinal connections and memory imprintations, we can heal, not only ourselves, but the whole world.
I have experienced miraculous healings through practicing yoga and indigenous ceremony. I believe it is our inherent right to merge with the energy of the Earth and Universe in order to be healthy, strong, successful and happy.
I invite you to click here and begin your own journey towards wholeness.
With much love,
Zonia Lucero
